One day in March I headed west to the little town of Ekenäs a couple of hours from Helsinki. There, I met up with Satu and Akseli. I have known Satu for a couple of years and I was so happy when she contacted me last year about their marriage. She told me that they where eloping in Ekenäs this spring, as one of Satus best friends was licensed to marry them at the district court, and will celebrate their marriage with family and friends next year in Italy. I am so honored that they invited me to come along and document this special day with them.
The old town of Ekenäs might be one of the cutest places in Southern Finland, filled with crooked alleys and old wooden houses in different colors. As soon as Satu and Akseli got out of their car, you could see their excitement; Today was the day they where getting married! We found a beautiful little alley near the sea where we took some portraits before the ceremony. Even though the sun came out for us during the session it was not a warm day, to say the least! It was a couple degrees above zero, and the wind was biting cold. But when I look trough the images from that day, I don’t see how crazy cold and windy it was- just how happy these two look, just about to say yes to each other!
